Little Brown our duck with attitude! She hatched out 10 out of 10 eggs last month. After two weeks we took her out of the movable pen that the duckling are in and let her go with the rest of the ducks. Well she has other plans; first she would fly out of the coop area in the morning to sit next to the pen where her duckings are sitting. After we clipped her wings she will pace the coop area until you let her out and then she will sit next to their pen all day. She will only leave them to eat a very quick bite to eat or drink. She will stay there until we chase her back into the coop area for the night. We thought that she would give up after about a week. Well it is three weeks and she is still guarding her ducklings all day every day she can get out to them. It never ceases to amaze me how our Creator designed a duck to know that she must be there for her ducklings! Without ever being shown or taught to do this by another duck!
