His given name is Mr. Gosling, but his true name is Grace, as in God's Grace. Let me explain, earlier this year we let the geese sit on some eggs. We had read that that they were wonderful mothers. Well they did not get the memo on that, they stepped on several goslings and killed them. This little guy was just starting to hatch when we took him. We had a duck who was also sitting so we put him with her thinking she could care for him. A few minutes after placing placing his egg under her, she kicked him out. What we found, was a broken and bloody shell with a gosling trying to breathe. Michelle and I were sick, thinking that this little one would also die. She went to work removing the broken shell. We put him into a small basket and put a heat lamp on him. Over the several hours I worked with him, rubbing him ever so gently to help stimulate him to keep fighting for life. This went on for days giving him water and small amounts of food. His yoke sack that would normally be adsorbed during the hatch was ruptured during the fall. This would have given him water and food for the first 72 hours. As the first days passed our little one started to gain strength and could hold his head up and then to walk a bit. As he started to grow we breathed a huge sigh of relief. This is a picture of him eight months later. So you see his real name is Grace!
